Beyond the dramatic landscapes lies an equally rich human story — traditional villages, ancient crafts, local food, and the customs of communities that have called this karst landscape home for thousands of years.
China’s karst landscape has been home to human communities for thousands of years. The villages scattered between the limestone towers are not museum pieces — they are living communities where traditional crafts, farming methods, and customs have been passed down through generations, existing alongside the modern tourism economy in a fascinating cultural blend.
Our local culture programme takes small groups into real villages with introductions through local contacts our team has built over years of operating in the area. Depending on your interests and available time, tours can include: traditional paper making or ink painting workshops, local cooking classes using Guangxi ingredients, a visit to a working farm, an evening cormorant fishing demonstration on the Li River, or simply time to walk slowly through a traditional village and understand what daily life looks like.
This is our most flexible programme — we tailor it to your group. Tell us your interests (food, crafts, history, photography, children’s activities) and we’ll build the experience accordingly.
