The former capital of thirteen dynasties, Xi'an holds the weight of China's imperial past in its walls, its food and the earth beneath it. Our first journey goes to the Terracotta Army — not just as sightseers, but as participants: making your own clay warrior, hearing the human stories behind the Qin Dynasty, and watching its soldiers return to life in a spectacular live performance.
The second journey is quieter and closer to the ground — a day spent in the kitchens, markets and neighbourhoods that reveal how Xi'an is lived today.
The eternal army beneath the earth
Walk among the thousands of life-sized clay warriors still standing in silent formation and — through immersive storytelling — uncover the human stories behind the Qin Dynasty. From the emperor's obsession with immortality to the extraordinary craft that gave every warrior a unique face, this is history made vivid and personal.
Guided by local artisans, create and paint your own miniature terracotta warrior — a hands-on connection to the artistic traditions of ancient Xi'an and a piece to take home. Along the way, enjoy authentic Shaanxi countryside cuisine and quiet moments in the landscape that surrounds the mausoleum.
A day of local life, family traditions & folk culture
Begin in a lively local market, shopping alongside residents for the fresh vegetables, spices and handmade noodles that define Shaanxi cooking. From there, step into a local family home for a hands-on noodle-making class — kneading dough, preparing toppings and cooking together around the family table.
