China's least visited province is one of its most extraordinary — where prehistoric fossils, cutting-edge science and vibrant ethnic traditions share the same karst landscape.
Guizhou's highlands are shaped by water and time: vast cave systems, turquoise rivers, ancient stone villages and forested ridges that vanish into cloud. Above it all sits the world's largest radio telescope, built into a natural karst bowl deep in the mountains.
We offer an immersive five-day family adventure and two focused day experiences — each a different way into the same remarkable landscape.
Into China's hidden highlands — caves, cosmos, Miao culture and batik craft

Arrive in Guiyang and travel to Pingtang, where your adventure begins underground. Step into a natural cave classroom: guided by experts, discover prehistoric life etched into limestone walls — fossils millions of years in the making. As night falls, gather around a bonfire at an exclusive cave base before sleeping beneath a natural stone canopy.
Luxury cave camping · Dinner included
Visit the FAST radio telescope — the world's largest filled-aperture dish, known as the "Eye of Heaven" — and build your own scale model guided by staff from the National Astronomical Observatory. Then drive south to the breathtaking Libo Xiaoqikong, a UNESCO World Heritage site of emerald waters and ancient stone bridges.
Libo boutique hotel · Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Rise early for Xiaoqikong before the crowds — waterfalls over ancient bridges, turquoise pools in lush forest. In the afternoon, drive through rolling karst hills to a Miao village and learn the haunting melodies of the Lusheng bamboo pipe, then join the community in a traditional bench dance.
Boutique guesthouse · Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Hike Nan'gongshan Forest Park — sea-of-cloud valleys, primitive forest, ancient villages where time has slowed to a halt. After the trail, join Miao villagers in the rhythmic tradition of making Ciba: hand-pounded sticky rice, a labour of love that ends in a delicious, chewy reward.
Terrace village guesthouse · Breakfast, lunch, dinner

For travellers who want a focused, single-day window into Guizhou's extraordinary landscape. Each experience stands alone and can be added to a wider China itinerary.
